Top 10 Reasons Everyone Needs Feminism | Fearlessly Frank

Feminism used to be taboo, and now it seems to be a dirty word. Why are so many people offended by the word feminism?

FEMINISM: the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes.

"Why don't we just call it equality?" you may ask. Equality blurs the line of male and female, assuming that everyone should be treated like men are now. With feminism, the main difference is that females should be given the same respect and opportunities as males, but we should still be able to act "like a female" or "like a male". Feminism strives to make equal opportunities available to anyone of any sex or gender. Many people assume that feminism only benefits females, when in fact it benefits everyone!

Here are the top 10 reasons everyone needs feminism:

  1. In many countries around the world, women are considered property and have little to no rights to make their own decisions. Feminism fights for the rights of these women and girls that currently do not have a voice.
  2. Femininity is not only seen as a weakness in females, but in males, as well. This means anything deemed "soft"  has been unacceptable, or frowned upon for men to do.
  3. Anything considered a "wifely duty" (hello, 1950's), such as being a stay-at-home parent, cleaning, cooking, etc., creates a stigma that only females should do/be good at. This is harmful for men who want to be a stay-at-home parent, or any man who wants to be independent and be able to take care of himself and his home.  Breaking this stigma means great things for the kids being raised today. I know I want my future son or daughter to be raised without those expectations weighted in either direction.
  4. Feminism, if it's correctly represented, is intersectional-meaning it includes all races, genders, and is working toward equality for all people who may deal with oppression.
  5. Unlike what extremists may tell you, feminism is inclusive of everyone with different political views. You can be a democrat, republican, libertarian, or affiliated with any other party, and still be a feminist. As long as you believe that women are people who deserve the same rights as men and the same opportunities, congratulations: You're a feminist!
  6. Feminism helps to create a dialogue about taboo topics like sex, sexuality, rape, and many others that otherwise would not be discussed in an open environment. This helps us move towards solutions for problems, and helps victims not feel so alone and chastised. #yes!
  7. Feminism makes for better fathers by making it socially acceptable for men to be stay-at-home fathers and equally as active in their kids lives. Some men grow up believing that men cannot be loving or vulnerable, even with their children and wives, so feminism can help them to realize that getting in touch with their softer side is completely okay!
  8. Feminism creates healthier relationships, because partners see each other as more of equals, and treat each other with respect. Healthy and happy relationships create healthier and happier people!
  9. Just before the election this past November, there was a hashtag trending that said #RepealThe19th, as in the 19th Amendment that granted women the right to vote. This was so sad, even if it was meant as a joke at first, many people jumped on this bandwagon being completely serious.
  10. Women make up less than 20% of Congress, but after Trump won the election, 11,000 women from all 50 states were inspired to run for office. Representation matters, and this is a great step towards putting more women in local and state-level government!

If you still don't think we need feminism in today's society, I'd like to show you the group of people who were voting for WOMEN'S rights just this year in the USA:

Seems to be an odd gender choice to speak about women's issues, don't you think?

Just one woman's humble opinion...

There are obviously so many other reasons I could add to this list, but for now I will leave you with these 10, and hopefully an urgency to support efforts towards furthering women's rights and equality across our nation, and the world.

Xo, Frank

Summer Resolutions | Fearlessly Frank

The New Year may be in January, but my resolutions don't kick in until summer starts. Usually, all spring long I tell myself I have to get "summer-ready," and while I do want to look good in all my cute new swimsuits I impulse-bought on Amazon at 3 am, I still want to make sure I enjoy my summer. So, I figured I would make a list of 10 "resolutions," or goals, that I want to be able to check off by the end of the warmer months.

1. Travel and push myself to try new things

2. Attend lots of pool parties

3. Go to the gym for all of the booty gains

evansvilleboudoirphotographer.jpg

4. Be confident enough to wear my bikini while eating all the food at barbecues

evansvilleboudoirphotographer.jpg

5. Get a nice medium between "glowy" tan and "Jersey Shore" tan

evansvilleindianaboudoirphotographer.jpg

6. Spend time with friends I haven't seen in a while

evansvillephotographer.jpg

7. Spend time with myself

evansvilleboudoirphotographer.jpg

8. Enjoy the sun, but remember sunscreen

9. Be consistent in cardio so my heart can handle all the love in my life right now

10. Spend less time sleeping in, and spend more time sleeping in the sun. Because the early bird gets the afternoon nap!

I may add to the list later, but these are the things I think I'll need for an amazing and unforgettable summer so far!

Let me know in the comments what you're putting on your own list, or what you think I should add to mine!

Happy Summer,

Xo Frank

How to Pick a Swimsuit | Workout Wednesday

This blog inspiration comes to you straight from Las Vegas. I recently was in Vegas and was completely blown away by the number of swimsuits I saw that were NOT properly fitted. I am all for girl bosses and being proud of what you have, but girls…lets enhance our bodies, not draw attention to any imperfections! This blog will give a few steps to follow when you are out shopping for your next itty bitty bikini!

  • Know your body type! What shape are you? Pear, Hourglass, apple? Know your body and own it girl!
  • Prepare Yourself! Do the proper shaving in areas needed to adequately try on a suit and see if you like it.
  • Choose a store that fits YOUR needs. Are you a little busty? Try a store that specializes in custom suits to best fit your body.
  • Choose the right color and fabric. Pick a tone that enhances your skin tone and a fabric that makes you feel light and sexy!
  • Choose a swimsuit cut that shows your curves. A bikini? Tankini? 1940’s high waisted? One piece? Boy short? It doesn’t matter, pick a cut that hugs you and shows just how boss you are!
  • Don’t be afraid to ask for help! Many employees are happy to assist in this area. You want to ask someone who will be HONEST with you and help you look your BEST!

Summer is around the corner, get out there and shop for that perfect swimsuit. Turn some heads, but in a good way! Every woman is beautiful and strong, own your body and make it the best this summer!

Choosing Self-Love | Fearlessly Frank

Dear Girls Everywhere,

This is a letter written in love to every single one of you. I want to formally apologize for all of the times you have seen magazines, internet sites, and most media outlets that have told you, "If you were skinny, you would love your body." This, I am afraid, is completely false. I cannot tell you how many times I have met a girl who looked like the girls on the magazines who could still find something about herself she did not like.

I'm just going to go ahead and rip the Band-Aid right off: Being skinny will not change the way you see your body.

There is no easy fix to being unhappy when you look in a mirror. Because unlike what magazines tell you, loving your body is all in your head. You can be curvy and love your body, and you can be skinny and hate your body. It is all up to you and the way you choose to look at yourself. I use the word "choose" because it is a mindful decision to love yourself in a society that teaches us that we are never good enough. It is only through mindful choices that we can ever come to love ourselves, no matter what size.

The following list are some of the best ways we at Fearlessly Feminine know to start your self-love journey:

  • Write down three things you love about your body, and add to it every day. You can do this standing in front of a mirror and admiring the specific things you write down, in your favorite clothes or naked, which is much scarier, we know.
  • Start another list that includes things about your personality and your mind. Add to this list daily, as well.
  • Appreciate your own shape, and find clothes that make you feel good, don't just follow trends. You don't have to stick only to clothes made for your specific shape, either. Wear whatever makes YOU happy.
  • Remind yourself that everyone has something they don't like about themselves. Comparison is usually not an ally, but not feeling alone can be helpful.
  • Replace negative thoughts about other people's bodies with positive ones.
  • Stop complimenting other people by putting yourself down. Instead of saying, "I wish I looked like you in that top," just leave it as, "You look great in that top," or even just, "I love your top!"
  • Slow down, take a breath, and remember that no one is perfect, you will have down days where you hate every piece of clothing you put on, and that all of that is normal and totally OKAY.
  • If you need reminders, enlist your best friends as "positive police" and help each other to phrase your words regarding your bodies in a more positive way.
  • If you are still struggling and feel you need more help, seeking professional help is ALWAYS okay, and you should never feel ashamed of getting the help that you need.

All in all, self-love is a never-ending journey, and I know that it can be extremely difficult some days, but it is the most rewarding experience once you start to make progress.

Wishing you health, happiness, and all the love in the world.

Xo, Frank

Girl Power Mix | Fearlessly Frank

I think we can all agree that there are more than enough songs in the world about big butts, sex with "easy" women, and grinding in the club. But what about songs that empower women, make us feel beautiful, powerful, and strong, and overall remind us of the total boss babes we are?

The Fearlessly Feminine crew wanted to create a playlist that embodies what it means to be a woman, with every song either relating to girl power, independence, or just the many everyday struggles of being a girl. So throw on some noise-canceling headphones, put the playlist on shuffle, and enjoy!

Xo, Frank

Let us know in the comments below what your favorites on the playlist are, and any songs you think we should add! <3

Miss J | Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photographer

Miss J's eyes lit up with excitement as she walked into the room in her first outfit. With her hair and makeup done, her new lingerie on, and a determined attitude, she was ready to kill her shoot- which she obviously did!  Miss J knew how to shape her body like a pro!  Her killer abs motivated us to totally go to the gym!

Miss J wanted to give herself a birthday gift, and she decided that there was no better way to spend her birthday than by treating herself to a Fearlessly Feminine shoot! I loved getting to work with her and helping make her birthday fabulous and unforgettable! Miss J, I hope that your birthday was the best ever, and I hope you inspire other girls to make this a new birthday tradition!

Check out all of Miss J's gorgeous photos below, and read about her boudoir experience!

  • Why did you choose to do a Fearlessly Feminine shoot?

I chose to do a Fearlessly Feminine shoot because I wanted to feel beautiful, sexy, and powerful. As a woman in today's society, we are constantly taught that being naked is a bad thing. I have always struggled with self-confidence and being comfortable in my own skin, and I knew that doing this shoot with Alisha was exactly what I needed to feel empowered. I chose to do this shoot on my birthday because what better what to spend your birthday than by being pampered and working it in front of the camera in cute lingerie?

  • What was your favorite part of the experience?

My favorite part of the whole experience was getting to do all the different poses and just stepping outside of my comfort zone. I've never done anything like this so I had no clue what to expect. I loved every single minute of that day with Alisha.

  • How did your boudoir session make you feel?

To be quite honest...it made me feel like a sexy little badass. After I warmed up to the camera, I began to feel like I was channeling my inner Marilyn Monroe. As one of her famous quotes goes, "Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."

  • Would you do another Fearlessly Feminine shoot?

Hell yes I would. Alisha's work is FLAWLESS and I loved having Sarah there to help. They both make you feel so comfortable and amazing. I honestly wouldn't have done a boudoir shoot with anyone but Alisha because I trust her and I know how good she is at her job.

  • Would you recommend a session like this to anyone else? If so, who?

Of course. I would recommend a Fearlessly Feminine shoot to ANY girl who is struggling to see their true beauty or someone who is just looking to have fun and look sexy and look back on the pictures and be like "damn girl!"

  • What did you do to prepare for the shoot?

Bubble bath the night before. Lingerie shopping. Clean eating.

  • What image was your favorite?

Ummm all of them...? Lol but seriously, I can't pick a favorite. I have never modeled like this before so I was a complete amateur and I'm honestly proud of myself for stepping outside my little box and just rolling with what Alisha told me to do.

  • What products did you decide on? Are you happy with your choice?

I decided to buy all the images digitally because I couldn't choose which ones I liked best. I did this shoot for me and me only so I just wanted the digital images to look at for myself :)

How Long Should My Workout REALLY Be? | Workout Wednesday

"How long should my workout really be?"

This is a question I am asked typically as soon as I send out a plan to a client. Here is my full answer in detail…

First, what in the world are we “timing” anyway? This is always the first thing that pops into my head when someone asks me exactly how long their workout should take. What do you mean by “workout?” What exactly are we timing?

  • Time spent doing actual work sets?
  • Time spent doing warm-up sets?
  • Time spent resting between sets?
  • Time spent doing pre workout mobility stuff?
  • Time spent foam rolling and stretching?

Seems kind of silly now, doesn’t it? There’s just a whole lot of stuff going on at the gym, some of which isn’t even fully in our control, but all of which can add up and make a significant difference in terms of how long your workouts end up taking.

  • A basic full body workout for a beginner will be short. It may take just 30 minutes to complete. A full body workout for someone advanced could take twice as long… maybe even three times as long.
  • An upper body workout will usually last longer than a lower body workout, just based solely on the fact that there is more stuff to train (chest, back, shoulders, biceps, triceps vs quads, hams, calves).

For all of these reasons and all of the reasons mentioned before — many of which are out of our control — it becomes pretty obvious that the concept of there being some universally ideal amount of time everyone’s workouts should take is, well, silly.

So then how long should my workouts be? The very best answer I can possibly give you to this question is actually another question. And that question is: who cares? Seriously! The amount of time your workouts take is something that just doesn’t matter at all, and it’s not something you need to be paying much (if any) attention to.

The one and only thing that matters is that your overall workout program and each individual workout within that program is designed correctly and intelligently for your specific goals and needs. As long as that has been done, your workouts will take exactly as long as they should be taking. Whatever amount of time that takes… THAT’S exactly as long as it should have taken!

Miss M | Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photographer

Miss M's boudoir session was a dual purpose for her- it was something she'd always wanted to do for herself, and she also wanted to give it as a wedding present to her new husband! Miss M is one of the sweetest, fun loving, and hilarious people I've ever met! Not only was she so confident in herself and her body, but she makes other people feel good about themselves, as well. She's a girl after my own heart, because she brought Dakota and my favorite bourbon as a thank you gift after her session! I died, could she be any more thoughtful?!

Miss M, I am so happy to have met with you and created these beautiful images for you and your husband! You're bold, beautiful and so much fun!

You can read more about Miss M's session below, and check out her gorgeous photos:

  • Why did you choose to do a Fearlessly Feminine shoot?

A boudoir shoot is something that I have always wanted to do, but with getting married, I finally had an excuse to do it. I wanted to do something that was for me. But, that would be a great gift for my almost husband, with a fantastic story behind it.

  • What was your favorite part of the experience?

Being able to relax, and focus on myself. I work long hours, and balance graduate school in the mix. After I booked my session, it was really fun to take time each week looking at Pinterest for ideas, and spending time shopping for some new clothes. It was time that was specifically for me. It was also really fun having my little secret to myself with my upcoming session, and being able to be so excited for an experience all about me. I also loved finally being able to gift it to my fiancé right after our first time seeing each other on our wedding day. The pure surprise of the gift, and the reaction was priceless!

  • How did your boudoir session make you feel?

I felt so empowered, beautiful, and feminine. I loved being able to incooperate things that I love like my leather jacket and jerseys. I felt like I was my authentic self for this session, and all of my confidence and personality came out in all of my images. I was able to smile genuinely, and also capture images of some giggles and belly laughs. When I left my session, I was glowing with an untapped confidence that I didn't have a few hours before. In every way shape and form, I felt pampered and beautiful.

  • Would you do another Fearlessly Feminine shoot?

Yes! I have already thought about ideas for my next session! I had the time of my life, and I am still ranting and raving about my experience. I left my session glowing, and feeling like I just spent the last few hours with my girlfriends. What chic wouldn't love feeling beautiful and hanging out with her girls?

  • Would you recommend a session like this to anyone else? If so, who?

Any and every woman. This is an experience everyone should get to have. Everyone deserves to feel beautiful inside and out regardless of their age or size. I felt beautiful walking out of the door, but I was so excited when I finally got to see my images. I still cannot believe that those images were me, and everyone should get to have that inner glow and confidence from this experience of seeing themselves in such a beautiful and sexy way.

  • What did you do to prepare for the shoot?

I started my Pinterest board to get ideas. I made sure that when I booked my session, I had plenty of time to find some new pieces for the shoot. I bought a couple bras and some sexy lacy undies. But, I also went through things I already had that were totally my style and things that I loved. I started drinking lots of water, and made sure I was very well rested for the few days before my session. I also made sure that I sparkled up my jewelry and wore comfy clothes to my session.

  • What image was your favorite?

I loved them all! They were all unique and caught a different element of my personality. But, my favorite was what I keep calling my "Wonder Woman" photo. The second I laid eyes on it I fell in love. My hair is cascading down my side, with the sheet just barely covering me while I look off in the distance. Every time I see it I feel like the definition of fearlessly feminine, or like Wonder Woman. I mean those two are interchangeable right?

  • What products did you decide on? Are you happy with your choice?

I purchased an 8x8 album, with 20 images, with the downloadable app, and USB drive. I am very happy with my choice. I was able to keep all of my top favorite images without feeling like I left anything out. I love that I have a keepsake for the rest of my life (and my husband too). But, I also love being able open up the app when I need to feel like a boss lady!

Miss S: Dark and dreamy | Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photographer

"We all move forward when we recognize how resilient and striking the women around us are."
-Rupi Kaur

At Fearlessly Feminine we believe that all women are beautiful, resilient, and striking, and that we should all embrace our feminine sides. I had the pleasure of shooting some darker images with Miss S, and it got us to talking about the equal importance of embracing our darker sides. Female sexuality is often regarded as something dirty and something that we have to hide, but we couldn't disagree more. Let's end the stigma that women loving their bodies is wrong, and openly love ourselves, dark sides and all.

Check out the shoot below and leave a comment telling us something about your dark side you are working on embracing:

Miss M | Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photography

This is Miss M's third boudoir session and I love it! LOVE IT! She's not only a total babe in front of a camera, she is also such a beautiful person. Her strength and positivity shine through to everyone she meets. I deeply admire her self-love, confidence, and urgency to help others! I love the way she builds up the other ladies in her life and how joy and excitement just radiate out of her!

She's a personal trainer and self love advocate! I'm dreaming of getting in the gym with her, with my wedding quickly approaching I'm dying to learn from this girl boss! I know she'd whip my booty right into shape!

Get to know Miss M better below! I adore her. <3 And be sure to watch for more blogs of this babe in the coming months!

  • I feel excited

I feel excited when I move up in weight in my workouts. When my body becomes stronger, I know I am doing something right!

  • I feel proud

I am proud of how far I have come as a woman and wanted to celebrate that. I have come into my looks and personality the last few years. I love what I have become.

  • I feel vulnerable

There was a certain vulnerability during my boudoir session, that I had never felt before. I was free. I could pose and dress any way I wanted. That was all up to me. In every day life, we have certain expectations on how we look or what is appropriate, but during my session I could just be me.

  • I feel angry

I have become upset with how society has molded the definition of beauty. Also, how women who have self love are shamed. Every woman has the right to feel comfortable and confident in her body. Every woman is beautiful and deserves to believe that.

  • I feel great

I feel great when I help people. I love helping people in every day life. It's one the reasons I became a personal trainer. I get joy from other people reaching their goals.

evansvilleindianaboudoir.jpg

  • I feel confident

I feel confident in my body. All its curves and how it has drastically changed in the last few months. I feel confident in my smile for the first time in my life, after having braces for two and a half years. It is something I want to show off instead of hide.

  • I feel most powerful

I feel most powerful when I hit a record weight in my workouts.

  • I really admire people who

I admire people who stand up for what they believe in with conviction.

  • My favorite rule to break is

    I make my own rules.

  • My best advice is

My advice to other women is it is okay to put yourself first. Learn who you are!

  • I build up other women by

I build up other women by being encouraging and supportive. I always try to let every woman out there know they are special.

  • To me being Fearlessly Feminine means

Accepting all your imperfections and realizing you are irreplaceable and unique.

SUPPLEMENTS | WORK OUT WEDNESDAY

Many people ask me about supplements, vitamins, and drinks. With a fitness crazed world, it sometimes is hard to decide what is right for YOU. I generally answer the questions to people by starting with, " What are your goals?" and, "Are you currently taking anything?"

I have a list of my favorites and will share them below. Please consider your overall health and ask a doctor if any of these are unclear.

  1. Multi-Vitamin- Vitamins are GREAT, but there are many, many kinds. Try to buy a vitamin that promotes overall health and includes Vitamins C, B, and D. My favorite is VitaFuse Multi for Women
  2. Branch Chain Amino Acid (BCAA)- GREAT for muscle recovery and soreness. BCAA's help to restore folic acid in the muscle and repair the tissue as it regrows. My favorite is NLA for HER, Her Aminos.
  3. Primrose Oil- GREAT for your hair, skin, and nails. Enough said. All women should take this!
  4. A Probiotic-  They are great for digestive health, immune support, and over health. They also help to kill bad bacteria in your intestines. My favorite is NLA for HER, HER Probiotics.
  5. Fish Oil- GREAT source of healthy fat! Any over the counter fish oil is great, try it!

Give some of these a try and see how you feel. Remember, Supplements SUPPLEMENT your health care routine. They enhance it, not fix it! You have to also eat well and exercise in order to use supplements!

Miss L | Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photographer

I not only had the pleasure of shooting Miss L for boudoir, but I also got to shoot her wedding portraits, as well. Miss L decided to book her boudoir shoot as a gift for not only herself, but her newlywed hubby!

Miss L puts so much time and effort into so many other people in her life, that I was so glad to share time with her where she could focus on herself! Miss L, I am so happy that you asked me to shoot both your wedding portraits, and your boudoir session! I hope you enjoy both sets of images as much as I do!

You can read more about Miss L’s boudoir experience below:

Why did you choose to do a Fearlessly Feminine shoot?

-I found your Fearlessly Feminine portfolio simply breathtaking. I loved the one especially of the woman posing outside in nature near and in the water.

What was your favorite part of the experience?

-Actually the whole shoot was amazing! The lighting techniques and the different ways the poses were orchestrated. The entire shoot was professionally shot with an artistic approach in the use of natural lighting and unique props. I loved the scene with the flowers that were laid over my hair. The images turned out so beautiful and mysterious, drawing upon the imagination.

How did your boudoir session make you feel?

-I felt beautiful and unique, away from the rigors of the working world and its demands. It was like slipping into a story book of everything I've every wanted to be and to be looked on with wonderment and appreciation. I loved how my feminine and womanly qualities were drawn upon and brought to light.

Would you do another Fearlessly Feminine shoot?

-I would definitely do another Fearlessly Feminine shoot! I feel that a woman and her life is ever changing and progressive. To capture this metamorphosis would be delightful and very gratifying.

Would you recommend a session like this to anyone else? If so, who?

-I have a number of friends I would recommend this experience to. I can't wait to show my sister, Malia. I know she would love to have the opportunity to have this unique experience. My close friend, Rose, who is Brazilian. I know she would love every single moment of a Fearlessly Feminine shoot!

What did you do to prepare for the shoot?

-I took extra care of myself via diet, sleep, and keeping stress levels low. I also did a juice cleanse three days prior, which helped me feel and look my best. I had my hair color freshened up, eyelash extensions, and did lots of hot yoga.

What image was your favorite?

-I loved all the images so much. I have never seen myself like this in these images. You brought out the inner beauty to the outside and accentuated it with subtle natural light, an intimate atmosphere, and orchestrated every move so beautifully.
My favorite image is the half face with my hair and roses. It is a very ambiguous and unique image, bringing wonderment within the viewer.

What products did you decide on? Are you happy with your choice?

-I am very happy with my choice. I loved wearing the clothes from House of Bluez. Jodi Merrick was a tremendous help and chose just the perfect color scheme and selection.

Miss J | Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photography

Miss J's boudoir session was a gift from her to her husband. He travels for work, and she wanted to give him something that reminded him of her love for him while he was away. I loved getting to work with her and create beautiful images for herself and her husband to enjoy! Miss J is a mom, and works in education! She and her husband were just recently married, but she speaks of him with so much love, they could easily have known each other for a lifetime!

Miss J, I so admire your passion for your family and your work, and I especially admire your love for your husband! I hope you both love these images, and that they help with your time apart while he is away.

You can read more on what Miss J had to say about her session below:

Why did you choose to do a Fearlessly Feminine shoot?

-Being 45 and counting... I wanted to do something super special for my husband, with photos that captured me in the most beautiful, flattering way. I wanted a mix of sexy and sweet for husband ... photos that conveyed my personality and love for him.

What was your favorite part of the experience?

-My favorite part was the feeling of excitement that I had knowing I was doing something so special for my husband, and feeling confident in it due to the energy and positivity, compliments and smiles that Alisha and her assistant brought to the session.

How did your boudoir session make you feel?

-In one word... Beautiful. Kana, at the Beauty Room, started my day with simply beautiful makeup, and then Jessica did a fabulous job on my hair. It was gorgeous. Alisha and her assistant made me feel so comfortable and confident throughout my session. Doing a boudoir session in your 40's is a little intimidating, but I walked away feeling so excited about my photos and just simply beautiful.

Would you do another Fearlessly Feminine shoot?

-Yes.

Would you recommend a session like this to anyone else? If so, who?

-Yes.. Would recommend to anyone wanting to do something special, not just for a significant other, but for themselves.

What did you do to prepare for the shoot?

-Gathered outfits, accessories, created a Pinterest board of some of my favorite boudoir ideas. The day of was so relaxing.. showered, went to the Beauty Room for makeup and Alisha's for hair by Jessica.

What image was your favorite?

-This is difficult... but I loved the photo of the black two-piece outfit where I am lying on the bed with my knees bent where you can see my heels. I remember feeling so beautiful in that outfit, and I love my hair, my makeup, and my expression conveys that. I also love my booty in this! Thanks, Alisha!

What products did you decide on? Are you happy with your choice?

-Album, with the app for my husband.

FIT PREGNANCY | WORK OUT WEDNESDAY

By now y’all know I am due with #2! I wanted to write this blog for those of you out there that might be pregnant already, are thinking about becoming preggo, or have had kids! First off, you are BEAUTIFUL! Don’t fear about your changing body, embrace it and allow me to give you some tips about having a fit pregnancy.

There are 4 rules of thumb I like to consider when working out and being preggo-

  • Type
  • Time
  • Intensity
  • Frequency

When considering what type of workout, think about what would make you feel the best. Is that spinning, lifting weights, swimming, or yoga? Pick an exercise that you enjoy and can maintain throughout your pregnancy.

Time is precious! When pregnant and working out, I like to keep with my normal routine, but perform the exercises quicker at max intensity (lower weight) This will help with blood sugar regulation, increase metabolism, better sleep, and improve cardiovascular health.

You are fearless! Get intense! Here is the rule- if you can’t hold a conversation with the person next to you, you are over working and need to back off to allow better oxygen flow to you and your baby. If you can breathe and feel great, push it and be a boss!

How often should you get your sweat on? Most doctors will tell you if were active and working out before you became pregnant, then you have the green light to continue the same regimen. Just be mindful and listen to your body. If you are sore or tired, take a rest day.

So, what is right for you? You know your body and are in tune more than anyone. Be smart, be determined, and be proud of that growing bump and know you are sexy and glowing! (Note: always stay well hydrated and consult with your doctor with any questions)

Feeling Sluggish | WORKOUT WEDNESDAY

I was feeling a little drained of energy recently. So, I did what any smart individual does when they are tired, I tried to sleep more.  But I wasn't getting any results when it came to my energy. I was working out regularly but it was very intense exercises. So, I tried to sleep more. To no avail, I wasn't getting anywhere with all the rest I was getting. So, I tried looking at myself as a 3rd person, like I was my own personal training client. If I was my Trainer I’d say “steady state CARDIO!” and Slower sets and Reps when it came to my strength training.

So, that’s what I did, I dragged my lazy butt onto a treadmill and ran 5k. I felt better instantly.  Then I did it again the next day, that’s when I felt like I was myself again! I have a lot of energy so to not be able to tap into it is a real problem for me. I lost some of the fat I was dragging along with me too! What is steady state? Steady state cardio is simply a cardio workout that is a continuous, steady effort, as opposed to an interval cardio workout where you vary your energy output...Preferred that you do 20min or more but the cells in your body will love you for it as it will teach or reteach them to see your oxygen and fatty acids as an energy source as opposed to always wanting sugar for energy.

What’s this story got to do with you? You don't run nor do you have a desire to start, or maybe you aren't feeling as lazy as I did and don't do cardio... Well if you aren't doing it you should, as it will bring you:

- Improved Heart Health

- Increased Metabolism (Will help the cells of your body use all three sources of energy efficiently)

- Increased Hormone Balance (Goodbye, fatigue!)

- Increased Recovery Time

- Helpful towards Glucose management (Which is very important to people with Diabetes as it helps manage sugar levels!)

So many reasons to get your cardio on! With benefits like these how can you not? Your next step is get started! Do you like to work out inside? With Friends? Play sports? what will get you to do it? Whatever the answer is get started today! Even if you’re tired!

Different options Pending your fitness level:

- Dog walking, biking, elliptical, tennis, light jogging, rowing, and many more! Now, get out there and do some cardio!
